The coating materials used in the roofs are various and are divided into six groups, metal, clay, cement, bitumen, plastic-based and other materials, according to the material that makes up the content.

Polyester is the binder resin in the thermoset group.
It is used in industrial facilities, greenhouses and partially illuminating structures.
Glass fiber reinforced polyester material has high mechanical strength.
It is a light, corrosion and chemical resistant material. It has electrical insulation and low thermal conductivity, and it does not need any additional service such as maintenance and paint for many years.
It is important that it provides ease of assembly, design flexibility, easy repair, and that the production can be done with a low labor force.
It has high sound insulation against the sounds coming from the outside environment. It is impact resistant. It also has features such as the ability to be colored by itself, providing light permeability when desired, and low transportation cost.
Raw material is expensive.
Composites are easily damaged because they are brittle materials. Repairing them can create new problems. It burns and produces smoke.
The quality of the material depends on the quality of the production method. Requires specialized personnel for assembly.
Sound or heat insulation cannot be done in the parts where light transmission is desired by using insulation material. There is no recycling. It creates environmental pollution. Since it is a chemical substance, polyester can deteriorate and become brittle under the sun for a long time.
